Hyundai Sonata recall
Though the manufacturing of cars is closely monitored by computers, there are
instances when some cars are released for sale with undetected faulty auto part.
It's for this reason that recalls are declared. Recalls are meant to prevent possible
accidents which may be caused by these defective parts or accessories, so in keeping
with the assurance of safety and quality companies recall their cars for corrective
measures.
The 1995 Hyundai Sonata was given a recall because of a misleading label that
showed a different cargo capacity estimate than its actual capacity. Such mislabeling
can lead to injury when the car is overloaded. 1995 Hyundai Sonata owners are
expected to have their labels replaced at their local dealers. The Hyundai Company
was ordered by the Ministry of Construction and Transportation to issue a recall
on its Sonata EF because it was found that this model's bearings in the cooling
fan motor burns out while running or driving. Since the radiator fan helps cool the engine, failure of the fan to work correctly
would mean an overheat will occur most likely.
The defective part will be replaced by the company free of charge. 17, 118 units
of the 1999 Hyundai Sonata were recalled because the transmission computers of
the 2.5-liter engines needed to be reprogrammed due to computer communication
errors with generic scan tools. Another recall for the 1999 Hyundai Sonata was
served to 165, 977 units fitted with 2.5-liter V6 engines because of the intermittent
low-speed engine stalling it may experience. This is caused by the interruption
of the MAF sensor as a result of the engine vibration transmitted to the MAF sensor
connector wires. This condition increases the likelihood os a crash accident.
Dealers have been instructed to reroute the MAF sensor connector wiring harness.
