2003 Hyundai Sonata

The 2003 Hyundai Sonata is a competitive mid-size sedan that is giving other brands in the same league a run for their money. A quick glance at a Hyundai Sonata may lead observers to believe that they are looking at an expensive, classy luxury sedan. Classy and luxury is an apt description, expensive is not. The Hyundai Sonata manages to pull of what other mid-size sedans cannot, and that is to provide an inexpensive car with all the look and feel of pricey brand names. The design speaks of elegance and class with its sloping contours and catchy front lights; the interior is no different as the Hyundai Sonata's cabin is swathed in luxurious fabrics and leather.

2003 Hyundai Sonata

The 2003 Hyundai Sonata is available in three trim levels: the base trim, the GLS and the LX. Each trim represents different equipment and mechanical features which progresses as the trim level moves up also. The base Sonata is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine matched to a five-speed manual transmission. It also has a truckload of comfort features that is not readily available to other cars in the same price range. These features include air conditioning, AM/FM/CD audio system, rear defroster, power mirrors, power locks with keyless remote, power windows, cruise control, remote fuel door and trunk releases, 60/40 split folding rear seat, variable intermittent wipers, and 15-inch all-season tires.

The GLS moves up a notch on its engine power with the V6 engine that delivers 170 hp. It also carries a plush interior with high-level cloth upholstery, expensive wood grain trim, improved entertainment system, enhanced center console plus dual map lights and rear cup holders. The Hyundai Sonata provides its patrons the opportunity to own a luxury sedan with the LX trim; that is, luxury minus the price. The LX provides leather seating surfaces, better carpet, automatic temperature control, and an eight-way power driver's seat. It shares the same V6 engine with the GLS with a five-speed manual transmission as the standard shift gear with the four-speed automatic as an option for a few extra dollars.
