2001 Hyundai Sonata

The Hyundai Sonata is not just a car; it's a car that's pleasantly satisfying
with its army of standard features, great classy design and superb under-hood
performance. All these are available minus the burdensome expense that would be
expected from a car with the same characteristics. The Sonata definitely outclasses
and outdoes all other cars in the same league. The Hyundai Sonata is available
in two trim versions, the base and the GLS. The base level Sonata is fitted with
2.4-liter inline-4 producing 149 horsepower and 156 pounds-feet of torque. It
also comes well equipped with air conditioning, dual front and side-impact air
bags, speed-sensitive power steering, cruise control and AM/FM/Cassette stereo.
The GLS on the other hand is outfitted with an all-aluminum 2.5-liter V6, with
170 horsepower and 166 pounds-feet of torque while at the same time upgrading
the rear drum brakes to disc brakes. The comfort features of the base level has
been greatly improved on the GLS but for an extra stylish flare an options package
called the GLS Leather Package is available. The GLS Leather throws in an all-leather
upholstery and steering wheel wrap along with air conditioning; power windows,
door locks and mirrors; cruise control, AM/FM/cassette stereo with compact disc
player, tilt steering wheel, leather upholstery and steering wheel, power driver's
seat, remote release for trunk and fuel filler door and alloy wheels. All trims
offer two transmission choices, the five-speed manual and the four-speed automatic.
Inside the Sonata's cabin is a surprisingly roomy space that belies its low range
price. The instrument panel is well-displayed with gauges that are easy to read
and acknowledge. The seats are quite comfortable and roomy, add to that the spacious
leg room and these all make for an easy ride on your weekend getaways.
