2000 Hyundai Sonata

Hyundai means business and the Sonata is here to prove that. With the arrival
of the 2000 Hyundai Sonata it is evident that Hyundai engineers went back to their
drawing boards to eliminate the kinks from the Sonata. This year's version of
the Hyundai Sonata is greatly improved with a stiffer body structure, better engine
and smoother transmission that provide flawless driving experience. The Hyundai
Sonata is available in two trim levels, the base and the GLS. The difference comes
in the mechanical features and standard equipments. The base Hyundai Sonata trim
comes with a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine with rear drum brakes. The
GLS is fitted with a 2.5-liter V6 engine and four-wheel disc brakes.
The base delivers 137 horsepower whereas the GLS coughs up a good 170 horse kicks.
Transmission options are a toss-up between the five-speed manual and the four-speed
automatic. Standard safety equipments count dual front airbags, dual front side
air bags, front seat belt pretensioners and 5-mph bumpers on its list along with
the optional anti-lock braking system. Comfort features that are standard to the
Sonata are the air conditioning, power windows, door locks and mirrors, cruise
control, AM/FM with compact disc player, tilt steering wheel, remote release for
trunk and fuel filler door and alloy wheels. Options packages include the addition
of power sunroof, premium stereo with compact disc player and cassette, leather
package with power driver's seat, antilock brakes (ABS) with traction control.
